Day two of the Aegean swimming relay would start early in the morning of Sunday, September 21, 2003 from the spot of Panaghia Canala in Kythnos. Athletes would swim for about 30 km to reach the island of Serifos and its port Livadi.
Due to extreme weather conditions, however, athletes had to cover some of this distance on their sailing boat. Wind force reached 8 to nine degrees in the Beaufort scale and their escorts would not allow the athletes to swim under such conditions, as their safety would be severely jeopardized.
When they reached Serifos, athletes, their escorts and sailing crew was welcomed by Mayor Mrs Synodinou and local people.
